The pollution has been a very big problem in the cities, which is of course the outcome of irresponsible actions of we humans beings only, in the name of development.
To curb the pollution upto a certain extent, we should take the following few actions.
1. Government should plant trees/plants on the road dividers which are mostly just lying vacant. Even, the dividers which are having trees should further be having small plants to cover the vacant space in-between.
2. Sometimes it is seen that a water tanker is watering trees on the road dividers and as such a lot of water is used. Can't it be that there could a mechanism to spray the same water on the tree leaves which are covered with the pollution/dirt particles, which will not only clean tree leaves but the water which falls below the tree will also be used by tree roots. If not during daytime, it could be done during night. This would allow the tree leaves to generate more oxygen
3. The public which are having their own homes whether they are big or small, all should have plants on the rooftops/balconies. At least they should cover 20% of the rooftop (maximum their choice). Just imagine if all the rooftops are having plants, don't you think it will have a certain positive impact on the environment. Now, many would say who will pay for these plants and their maintenance. I have a simple question to them who will pay to the Doctor when you fall ill due to pollution? Rather than pouring money into hospitals, please start planting some plants in your houses.
4. The institutions / public besides whose premises there are trees they should at least once a week, shower the tree leaves which will be beneficial to one and all.
These thoughts just came to mind on seeing the pollution levels in Delhi...
